Tennessee entered the union as the 16th state on June 1st, 1797
Tennessee nickname is "The Volunteer state" because thousands of people from Tennessee volunteered to participate in the war of 1812
The official state flag of Tennessee was adopted in April 17, 1905
The state flag was designed by LeRoy Reeves of the Third Regiment of the Tennessee Infantry
The 3 white stars in the middle of the flag represent the 3 different geographical regions of Tennesssee. Smokey Mountains, the highlands, and the lowlands.
