  • Tennessee entered the union as the 16th state on June 1st, 1797
  • Tennessee nickname is "The Volunteer state" because thousands of people from Tennessee volunteered to participate in the war of 1812
  • The official state flag of Tennessee was adopted in April 17, 1905
  • The state flag was designed by LeRoy Reeves of the Third Regiment of the Tennessee Infantry
  • The 3 white stars in the middle of the flag represent the 3 different geographical regions of Tennesssee. Smokey Mountains, the highlands, and the lowlands.
