Nancy Ward- tried to decrease the tensions unsuccessfully in the weeks before the French and Indian War. Since she was married to an Englishmen, she wished to avoid bloodshed between her people and the English. Nancy warned the English about impending attacks and the British people about peace. She was labeled as a traitor by her own people. In 1785, Nancy made her last plea for peace.
